kitesurfing

So i was at the beach today and saw a kite boarder. you think if someone goes to the beach as much as i do, they would have been amazed by a kite boarder waay before now, but I decided i REALLY want to learn. Problem is i dont know where to start, where to get lessons, what i need, so on...Surfing is big in my family but i never personally have done it so will i need to do that first? Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of it and the dangers or whatever. Can anyone tell me basic kite setup, operation, maintenance, kite size and type considerations, and operation of safety systems or of instructors in the SoCal regions who can or recommend good instructors. Places around Newport or huntignton are ideal. Is it illegal there?i know it is at some beaches.Wow, i wrote alot but hey, im curious so As much info as possible would be great!

Kite surfing is indeed the new craze these days, Hood River, Oregon has a place where you can get lessons on this. but for Southern California, look in the yellow pages. Have fun when you get good at it, one other thing, the equipment for this is rather expensive.

Here is a link to the SoCal Kiteboarding Association website. Click on local info and they have a list of all of the kite shops that sell gear and have lessons. I’m sure one of these will be able to help you out. Check out some of the other links for some more info.
