Kitesurfing - 10 Basic Rules Everyone Should Follow

June 6th, 2007 · No Comments

Kitesurfing is a very cool sport to do, but if practised with imprudence (when the kitesurfing basic rules are not followed), kitesurfing can cause accidents and result in the death of the practitioner and of third. The fulfilment of these rules for beginners and experts is basic for the safety of the sport.

Here are couple rules:

  1. Look for a place with at least 150m free of any obstacles as trees, cars, people, poles, handles of energy, streetsand animals so kitesurfing can be safe.
  2.  Never hold the flight lines or stay between them with the kite flying or when is about to take off. When pressured, they can cut and it is very dangerous. Tip: Always alerts curious swimmers to not get very close to the kitesurfing area.
  3. Never pratice kitesurfing during storms or in loaded clouds. The equipment can turn a perfect lightning rod.
  4. Try to know the band of wind as much as you can which is recommended for kitesurfing safety rules. In relation to your weight, the kite may not take off in winds under the limit. It is very dangerous to be overpowered, where the kite can raise very height.
  5. If you are a beginner in kitesurfing, do not sail far away from the land. Your equipment and/or you could be taken for high-sea.
  6. Recommended kitesurfing safety equipments: helmet, floating vest, gloves, knife in hook (to hold/to cut the line in an emergency) and neoprene clothes (if led for far, you can be in the water for many hours).
  7. Stay far away from airports. Stay alert with aircraft in levelling flight or procedure of emergency in its direction. In case that it happens, lower the kite and stop kitesurfing immediately. The pilot can not see the kite or the lines.
  8. Prevent to be with the control bar hooked in the harness vest in firm land. If it raises, you will be dragged, and you may not have time to free itself from  the kite. It is also important to know and to practise the use of systems of trip fast e disarms of its kite for your own safety.
  9. In water, take very well care with boats, also with submerged objects as rocks and your own board, especially if it is in front of you, with the keels for top.
  10. Always have a partner to observe you and to help kitesurfing. Make a plan to sail - where you are going to take off, where is safer to enter in the water, the wheather conditions, direction of the wind and chains of wind, where will you leave.

Whichever is your level of kitesurfing you must follow all the kitesurfing basic rules to create safe environment to everyone that practices kitesurfing.
