Choosing a very good kitesurfing instructor is very important to begin with. Kitesurfing offers the highest risk if the security norms and basic rules are not respected.

The traction of the kite is enormous, and when it is outside of control can cause serious accidents and end up in death. A complete course of kitesurfing is between 6 and 10 total hours of lesson, and is an excellent investment, therefore the learning happens super fast and in a secure way. The worse idea is to try to learn by yourself, without the accompaniment of an kitesurfing instructor. Beyond the risk of if hurting yourself, you can damage your own equipment and place the life of other people at risk! The most important factor in the learning is the security of the apprentice. The kitesurfing instructor must be qualified, must have experience as practicing and professor, and must give the course in an adjusted place, free of obstacles and people, and with permissible conditions of time.

As an inexperienced kitesurfer, you do not have many information, so you can fall in a “trap”. Here are some tips to help you choose a kitesurfing instructor:

1. Check if the instructor has a established school of kitesurfing and how long does it exists.
2. Try to talk to another student and see how he like it
3. Ask if the kitesurfing instructor has adequate equipments to give lessons, to prevent those opportunists who just give lessons to make money, or to avoid being at risk.
4. Ask if he follows the basic rules and norms.
5. Check if he has a homepage on the internet and get as much information as you can about him.
6. Make sure that your instructor knows how to kitesurf, ask him to demonstrate some techniques first.
7. Make sure while on the course that someone is always ready in case of emergencies.
8. Make sure you know how to get out of the kite using an emergency cable to release you from the kite.
9. It is not necessary that your kitesurfing instructor to be a super adept in the sport, or a champion. Most important is that he knows to teach kitesurf and that he follows all kitesurfing basic rules and norms.

So don’t make a mistake to do kitesurfing by yourself. Always have a kitesurfing instructor to give you lessons.
