What is KiteSurfing?

Kitesurfing (also known as kiteboarding) is a mixture of windsurf with ski, wakeboard, surf, free flight. So, what kitesurfing really is? You slide on the water in one surfboard, pulled by the kite that acts as a wing stimulated for the wind. Kitesurfing can be practised in lakes, dams and in the sea, with weak and strong winds. The idea is the same one as Windsurf: the more wind, minor the area of the kite. Other factors also are taken in consideration, as the length of the lines and the angle of attack of the kite.

Kitesurfing is a new sport that it attracts sportsmen of several disciplines, windsurfers, surfers, wakeboarders, pilots of parapentes that find in this sport the emotion to join the sky with the water. There are 4 different kite sizes: 3, 6, 9, 12. The correct way to initiate in kitesurfing is making a course with a qualified instructor. It’s importante for your security and other kitesurfers that pratices kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing equipment is divided in 4 parts:

  1. Kite – used to pull you by the wind
  2. Flight lines – connects the kite with the control bar
  3. Control Bar – help you control on which direction the kite goes.
  4. Board – There are lots of styles: wakeboards, two way boards (goes in both directions) and more.

Everyone that praticise kitesurfing must always follow the kitesurfing basic rules, whichever its level of kitesurfing.It is always important to be together with someone at the time you practise kitesurfing. In case of some accident occurs this person will be able to help.

Never subestime the nature. In case of very strong winds it is better not to enter in the water. Kitesurfing control can be difficult and may occur in accident. Choose and take good care of your equipment. It is its greater ally in the hour to sail. It is extreme important that you verify the quality of the material before using it.
